After the successful regional dialogues and consultations in Cagayan de Oro and Puerto Princesa, InnovateGov will host the first InnovateGov National Summit which brings together civil society organizations, private sector representatives, youth leaders, the press, and public officials from across the country to discuss challenges and solutions to solidify good governance practices in the country.
InnovateGov, composed of the Institute for Solidarity in Asia, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, De La Salle University Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance, University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance, and Center for International Private Enterprise, aims to promote innovative approaches in policy-advocacy, performance-based standards for public institutions and multi-stakeholder participation for effective good governance.
InnovateGov also supports programs of various organizations in bringing about innovative approaches which fall in three different categories: (1) accelerate and scale up their current policy programs, (2) implement and realize innovative concepts, or (3) conduct effective public awareness campaigns. InnovateGov also provides them with financial grants to support the expansion and implementation of their programs. The Summit will provide a venue for these grant recipients to share their stories, accomplishments, and messages to raise public awareness.
The highlight of the summit will be the joint declaration of the consensus on a set of shared democratic values – centered on citizen participation, transparency, accountability, freedom and rule of law.
The Summit which will feature international and local speakers will delve on good governance topics relating it to sustainable development; youth agenda; science, technology, and innovation; women’s participation; empowering people’s councils; media literacy; power of arts; and inclusive business.
InnovateGov hopes to draw greater media attention and public awareness to discuss governance issues and how can it be further improved.
